ABSTRACT

In the post COVID-19 virus era, online teaching and work from home have develop a common trends so the demand of electronic component rapidly increases. The development of lead-free solder has grown rapidly because various environmental legislations have enforced laws to restrict the use of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg) and Cadmium (Cd), etc because this is hazardous materials. In electronic and electrical industries. Many lead-free solder composition such as Sn - Bi, Sn - Cu, Sn - Zn, Sn - Ag, Zn - Bi, Sn – Ag - Cu, Sn – Zn - Bi, Sn – Cu - Bi, Sn – Cu - Ni etc. have been developed as a replacement of Sn - Pb solder. Researcher are facing challenges due to rise in melting temperature in lead-free solder (LFS) and the formation of intermetallic compound. This review paper aimed to summarise the thermal properties of lead free solders (LFS) and analyse the effect of addition of various elements and reinforcement in Sn based lead free solder (LFS).

ABSTRACT

Invasive fungal co-infections with COVID-19 are currently being reported at an alarming rate. Our study explores the importance of early identification of the disease, probable etiopathogenesis, clinical and radiological features and a treatment protocol for COVID-19 Associated Fungal Osteomyelitis of Jaws and Sinuses (CAFOJS). A one-year prospective study from June 2020 to May 2021 was conducted among CAFOJS diagnosed patients at a tertiary care center in South India. Demographic details, COVID-19 infection and treatment history, time taken for initiation of symptoms after COVID-19 diagnosis, medical history and clinical features were recorded. All patients were managed with a standard diagnostic and intervention protocol which included pre-operative and post-operative administration of Inj. Amphotericin B 50 mg (liposomal), early aggressive surgical debridement and tab. Posaconazole GR 300 mg OD for 90 days after discharge. Thirty-nine (78%) patients were diagnosed with CAFOJS out of 50 osteomyelitis patients. 35 patients (90%) were diabetic and 21 patients (54%) were known to receive steroids during the COVID-19 treatment. Sole existence of Mucorales spp. was seen in 30 patients (77%), Aspergillus fumigatus in 2 patients (5%), Curvularia spp. in 2 patients (5%). Concomitant existence of Mucorales and Aspergillus fumigatus was reported in two patients (5%) and Candida albicans in three patients (8%). Patients underwent treatment with standard protocol and no recurrence noted. CAFOJS is a clinical entity with aggressive presentation and warrants early diagnosis and treatment. LAY SUMMARY: Invasive fungal infections of head and neck region cause necrosis of bones affected by it, especially maxilla. Early diagnosis and treatment are advocated in such infections due to its aggressive clinical presentation compared to similar infections before COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

The Covid pandemic has become a serious public health challenge for people across India and other nations. Nowadays, people rely on the online reviews being shared on different review sites to gather information about hospitals like the availability of beds, availability of ventilators, etc. However, since these reviews are large in number and are unstructured, patients struggle to get accurate and reliable information about the hospitals, due to which they end up taking admission into a hospital which might not be appropriate for the specific treatment they require. This paper employs the use of sentiment analysis to understand various online reviews of hospitals and provide valuable information to the patients. Approximately 30,000 + reviews were collected from more than 500 hospitals. The broad objective of the study is to give the patients a comprehensive and descriptive rating of the hospitals based on the online reviews given by different patients. In addition to providing a comprehensive summary, the study has conducted aspect-based analysis where it compares the hospitals based on four different aspects of the hospital viz. "Doctors' services", "Staff's services", "Hospital facilities", and "Affordability". The database containing aspect-based ratings of the hospitals will be of great value to the patients by allowing them to compare and select the best hospital based on the optimum fit of the aspects of their preference.

ABSTRACT

WHO has declared the outbreak of COVID-19 as a public health emergency of international concern. The ever-growing new cases have called for an urgent emergency for specific anti-COVID-19 drugs. Three structural proteins (Membrane, Envelope and Nucleocapsid protein) play an essential role in the assembly and formation of the infectious virion particles. Thus, the present study was designed to identify potential drug candidates from the unique collection of 548 anti-viral compounds (natural and synthetic anti-viral), which target SARS-CoV-2 structural proteins. High-end molecular docking analysis was performed to characterize the binding affinity of the selected drugs-the ligand, with the SARS-CoV-2 structural proteins, while high-level Simulation studies analyzed the stability of drug-protein interactions. The present study identified rutin, a bioflavonoid and the antibiotic, doxycycline, as the most potent inhibitor of SARS-CoV-2 envelope protein. Caffeic acid and ferulic acid were found to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 membrane protein while the anti-viral agent's simeprevir and grazoprevir showed a high binding affinity for nucleocapsid protein. All these compounds not only showed excellent pharmacokinetic properties, absorption, metabolism, minimal toxicity and bioavailability but were also remain stabilized at the active site of proteins during the MD simulation. Thus, the identified lead compounds may act as potential molecules for the development of effective drugs against SARS-CoV-2 by inhibiting the envelope formation, virion assembly and viral pathogenesis.
